Posting Journals

Posting journal entries is the process of transferring recorded business events from the general journal to the ledger. Posting is the next step in the accounting cycle after journalizing.

After events are identified, they can be recorded in the general journal with a journal entry.

Once the transaction is recorded, it must be transferred to the ledger accounts. This process is called posting. This is where all of the journal entries recorded in the general journal are transferred to the individual account ledgers.
